Celebrants

Welcome to all Celebrants and thank you for visiting our website.
This page is aimed to continue a good working relationship between Celebrants and Relationship Educators. We hope that you will find the material on this web site helpful and that you will be able to inform and encourage the couples that come to you to get married about the benefits of marriage education.
We also hope that it will give you some information around section 6 in your code of practise.
-
Code of Practice # 6. Knowledge and understanding of family relationship services.
- Developing an up-to-date knowledge about appropriate family relationships services in the community.
- Developing skills in how to inform parties about the range of information and services available to them to enhance and sustain them throughout their relationship.
Marriage and Relationship Education is an adult education activity designed to inform and enrich relationships and individuals at various stages of their relationship.
Programs are offered through agencies and private practitioners contact names for your state or territory can be found under the list on our home page. All MAREAA members adhere to the associations code of practice and aim to maintain a high standard of practice.
Relationship education is NOT counseling.
Members of Celebrant Associations and members of MAREAA are having ongoing discussions around the provision of OPD services for celebrants.
It is hoped, that in the not too distant future, certain Relationship Education agencies and private practitioners will be able to offer celebrants specific ongoing professional development programs. These programs will be recognised by the Attorney General's department, as part of the celebrants requirements to meet their OPD quota. Please watch this space.
Informal ‘education’ can also be encouraged. Visit our links section for web sites that give information and resources for couples to access.
Western Australia, MAREAA has developed a brochure for Celebrants which can be downloaded from the WA state section and given to couples by their Celebrant. Please contact the state contact person if you require more information of activities available in your area and or visit web sites such as Family Relationships Online where you or your couples can access a wide range of services available throughout Australia.
We hope more and more Relationship Educators and Celebrants will work closely together in the future.
